   Beginning in August, the City of Danville Staff began delivering Trash Toters to every City of Danville Solid Waste Collection customer at no additional cost. Residents who pay for City Collection will receive one 96 gallon container per address, unless they request the smaller 48 Gallon container through online form, telephone, or a bill insert sent later this spring. PLEASE BEGIN USERS YOUR NEW TOTER AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE IT. ALLEY COLLECTION WILL STOP UPON DELIVERY OF YOUR TOTER. Additional containers requested by the customer will be sold at cost ($47.50 for the 96 Gallon and $37.00 for the 48 Gallon)
These are all provided with a 10-year warranty. The city will purchase more than 12,000 containers, based on customer request. People can test drive and determine which one they want at various city functions, or in the front lobby of the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building, 17 West Main Street.

The toter will be assigned to the resident’s address and is expected to remain there if someone moves.

All existing containers previously sold by the City may still be used, resold, or donated to others.

Selection of Toter size is only necessary for customers wanting the 48 gallon. All other customers will automatically receive the 96 gallon.

City officials also hope to add at least one more recycling site too this fall, in conjunction with the toter distribution.

The city is in the midst of a multi-year plan that will phase-in automated garbage truck operations and see the $15 monthly residential garbage fee increase to $17 effective May 1, $17.50 in 2008-09 and $18 starting in May 2009.
