The City Council is made up of the Mayor elected at large and 14 Aldermen representing 7 Wards. Danville is a strong Mayor form of municipal government, where the day to day administrative duties are enacted upon by the Mayor. The City Council is a legislative body that adopts resolutions and ordinances. The City Council is divided into two oversight committees that meet the week before and vote on pending legislation.
The Danville City Council meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM. Meetings are held in the City Council Chambers in the lower level of the Robert E. Jones Municipal Building, 17 W Main St. Elevator and stairs are located on the Main Street entrance. The Council will vote on resolutions and ordinances reviewed during the previous Tuesdays' Public Services or Public Works Committee meetings.
