Central Vehicle Maintenance

Central Vehicle Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of all City rolling stock with exception of turf equipment, buses and squad cars. This includes preventive maintenance and all repairs within resources. Major engine and transmission work are sometimes contracted depending on workload.

Inspection and maintenance of all hand tools and power
equipment located at 800 South Street including all appropriate inspection and evaluation data for required equipment. All testing performed by approved vendor's in compliance with state & federal standards.

Perform all necessary fabrication and welding within
certifications and requirements. Staff is very capable of
maximizing benefits of repairs and/or improvements.

Monitor all equipment under Divisional jurisdiction for any
safety related deficiencies. Provides reporting, analysis and
recommendations for operation of equipment.

  • Central Vehicle Maintenance was established during a re-organization plan in 1993. Prior to that, mechanics were located within various Departments in separate facilities. It has proven to be a tremendous success in maximizing work production and extending the operational life of City equipment.
  • Prior to fall of 02, the Superintendent was only responsible for this Division. During our recent re-organization, the superintendent also assumed the duties of the Solid Waste Division. Both Divisions are moving forward with planned improvements.
