The City of Danville Fire Division is headquartered at: 1111 N. Griffin Street and is assisted by 3 sub stations strategically located throughout the City of Danville.
Mission
The Danville Fire Division will strive to protect the lives and property of our citizens by providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials response. We will endeavor to prevent fires though fire safety education, code enforcement and fire investigation. Furthermore, we will provide these services at the highest level feasible, and do so in a professional manner.
Services
The Danville Fire Division proudly protects 33,027 people living in an area of 16.8 square miles. We operate out of 4 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid status. We have an ISO rating of 4.
All our firefighters and lieutenants are members of Local 429, International Association of Fire Fighters. Captains and above are members of the Danville Fire Command Officers Association.
Our fire stations are geographically located for a rapid response by the engine company to the alarm. To achieve this the city has been split into basically four areas with an engine company assigned to protect it's area and respond as first due engine on all 1st., Still, and Rescue alarms. This location of stations in the four basic areas allows at least one engine company to respond to the alarm without crossing railroad tracks that divide the city.
The Fire Prevention Bureau provides many services to the community including Inspections, Fire Safety Education Programs, Plan Reviews, Code Enforcement, Juvenile Firesetter's Program, and Fire Investigations. For further information contact (217) 431-2350.
Training Division
The Training Division of the Danville Fire Division is operated by Capt. Larry Jaggers (217) 431-2350. This includes ongoing training in many areas including firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and rescue.
