The City of Danville Fire Division is headquartered at: 1111 N. Griffin Street.
Mission
The Danville Fire Division strives to protect the lives and property in Danville by providing fire suppression, emergency medical services, and hazardous materials response. We will endeavor to prevent fires though fire safety education, code enforcement and fire investigation. Furthermore, we will provide these services at the highest level feasible, and do so in a professional manner.
Services
The Danville Fire Division protects people living in an area of 16.8 square miles. The Division operates out of 3 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Members of the Division are full-time paid firefighters. The Division has an ISO rating of 3.
The fire stations are geographically located for a rapid response by the engine company to the alarm. To achieve this the city has been split into basically three areas with an engine company assigned to protect it's area and respond as first due engine on all 1st., Still, and Rescue alarms.
The Fire Prevention Unit provides many services to the community including Inspections, Fire Safety Education Programs, Plan Reviews, Code Enforcement, Juvenile Firesetter's Program, and Fire Investigations. For further information contact (217) 431-2350.
Training Section
The Training Section of the Danville Fire Division is operated by Lt. Chris McMahon. This includes ongoing training in many areas including firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and rescue.

Burning Regulations
Leaf burning shall not be allowed, except under the following conditions:
- The burning includes only the following: leaves, twigs, branches or limbs of no more than one (1) inch in diameter, brush or similar natural vegetation. The burning shall not include the following: trash, refuse, rubbish, garbage, plastic, paper, cardboard, litter, or similar household or commercial waste.
- The burning occurs between sunrise and sunset;
- The burning shall not occur on any public street, alley, or sidewalk;
- A responsible person above the age of 16 shall be in constant attendance;
- Burning which occurs out in the open shall be at least 50 feet from any structure;
- Burning which occurs in an approved container shall be at least 15 feet from any structure;
- Firefighting equipment in the form of a garden hose, buckets of water, or extinguishers shall be readily available;
- The burning does not create a visibility hazard on roadways or railways within the City; and
- The burning does not become a nuisance or health hazard by reason of smoke, fumes, fly ash, dust, soot, or noxious odor;
- The burning occurs when atmospheric conditions will readily dissipate contaminants, unless such conditions are likely to create or add to a hazardous situation, and
