Construction Permits and Inspections The Construction Inspection Division is responsible for the permitting and inspections of new construction and remodeling/renovation work carried out in the City. This unit is also responsible for the registration and licensing of contractors wishing to do work within the City of Danville. The duties of the inspectors in this unit include: explaining to developers the City’s Building Code requirements, reviewing and approving specific construction plans, issuing construction permits, and inspecting the work in progress to insure code compliance. Do I need a Building Permit? If you are performing the following type of work, a permit is required.
Property Maintenance InspectionsThe Property Maintenance Inspection Division is responsible for enforcing the Property Maintenance Code within the City. The inspectors in this unit look for violations involving tall weeds/grass, abandoned vehicles, substandard housing, and illegal dumping of trash or garbage. Staff in this unit are also responsible for administering the City’s Rental Housing Registration and Vacant Structure Registration Programs.
