Bridge repairs are scheduled for Wednsesday on North Bowman Avenue just north of Liberty Lane. Add Comment A Public meeting for the Phase II of the Bowman Avenue project has been set for Thursday February 2, 2012 at the public works facility. The meeting will be an open house format from 4 PM to 7 PM and is being done to inform the public of the project and to gather their comments / concerns. The proposed improvements along this section of Bowman Avenue generally consist of widening the roadway from the existing three lane section north of Crestview Drive north to Holiday Drive, with the addition of curb and gutter and overlaying the pavement throughout the project. Improvements also include a bus turnout on the east side of Bowman Avenue south of Garden Drive, a storm sewer system to convey water away from the roadway, a bike path between Winter venue and Holiday Drive on the west side, the extension of a sidewalk from Holiday Drive down to the existing sidewalk along the west side of the road and the use of urban mailbox turnouts to maintain mail delivery service. City of Danville Public Works announces that Collett Street south of Brook Street will be closed for tree removal operations during portions of the day from Monday, January 23, 2012 through Wednesday, January 25, 2012, weather permitting. Street Division crews will perform tree trimming and removal at the Collett Street Bridge between Brook St. and English St., which will require the closure of Collett Street from 9AM until 1PM each day. Danville Public Works and the Danville Sanitary District have partnered to financially assist homeowners in eliminating basement sewer backups by creating an overhead sewer program. The program replaces gravity drains in basements with an ejector pump system. Qualifying homeonwers can receive up to 50% of the cost of the system through the City and Sanitary District. The City of Danville Public Works Department announces that North Street will be closed between Franklin and Walnut starting the morning of Tuesday, January 3rd for the Walnut Street Parking Garage ramp removal. The street is needed for equipment and a safety buffer. North Street should be reopened by 5 PM on January 6, depending upon weather conditions. Motorists and pedestrians should avoid this area and find alternative routes while the construction is taking place.
